A Thought For Your Valentine’s Day

Made by Lydia Kimble-Wright with Over App

“Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, it always trusts, it always hopes, it always perseveres.” 1 Corinthians, 13:4:7 (NIV)

Many do not know that Valentine’s Day has rather morbid, and less than “loving” roots. You can read about it here. Nevertheless, this post concerns is about the present depiction of the holiday.

They say that our positive emotions emanate from love, while our negative emotions arise from fear. Of the two, love is life affirming and heart nurturing. Be it new love or mature love, or something in between, may you have love and know love all 366 days of this year.

For those of us who are not in a relationship, this is still a day to be celebrated. Gather those family and friends whom you love, and honor the love that brings you together.

Love is not reserved for some and not others. It is a universal emotion that warms the heart, and touches the soul. Love, in all its iterations, brings out the very best versions of our selves, and should be cherished.

Remember to share it, express it, and most importantly, put it into action every day. Love is not a once a year gift to share, but one that is best enjoyed every day. Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your loves!
