Golden Contrast

Golden Contrast, by LKW created on Polyvore 5.2.14

Happy Friday. I am feeling under the weather so I decided to play around with Polyvore and to create a collage. I love creating these collages as it helps me learn color combinations for my mixed media work.

Anyway, you may be wondering about the significance of the numbers 4 and 5. I included them in the collage because they keep cropping up everywhere. Now, this may sound woo-woo to some, but having been born and bred Catholic, I believe in angels and in their presence among us, so I ask that you indulge me.

In the book “Angel Numbers” by Doreen Virtue, she lists the various meaning of each number from 00-999. She attributes the following meaning to each number. Number 4 means “Angels are with you. Call upon them for help, guidance, and feelings of love and security.” The number 5 means “This number relates to change, transformation, transmutation, and alchemy. Something in your life is changing, or about to change, for the better.” Now whether you believe in them or not, I find the thought comforting that there are beings waiting in the wings (no pun intended) to guide me as I travel this journey called life. Yet, I have enormous repeat for those who do not share my beliefs, because that is what makes life interesting–the amazing differences between us. Now, go out there and have a stupendous weekend!

Silvery Dreams

Silvery Dreams

I got the idea for this Polyvore set, from of all places, Home Depot. This weekend, my 7-year-old granddaughter and I headed to Home Depot with one purpose in mind — to buy a new hammock. We found one. Instead of leaving, she insisted on playing with paint color strips, which I love to do for color inspiration in my burgeoning mixed media work.

What I didn’t realize was that Home Depot is like a toy store for her. She ran from section to section laying her cheek on the soft carpet, admiring washing machines, tile, and bamboo blinds. We ended up in the refrigerator section, where she checked out one refrigerator after another. I fell in love with this huge aluminum steel fridge with enough room to fit a small child. Alas, instead of buying the very expensive refrigerator, I created this silver set. It will have to satisfy my fascination for now.

Imagine the colors of SPRING!!!

Image the colors of SPRING!!!

I am one day late, but HAPPY SPRING!!!! Perhaps, we can finally put the frigid, cold temperatures behind us and relish in the warmth of spring. As I sat enjoying that thought, I couldn’t help but think of the rainbow of colors that blooms with the coming of Spring. I love them all and seeing them makes me laugh and giggle like a child with thoughts of play from dusk ’til dawn. Of course, the operative word is to play, play, play. I hope that Spring has sprung wherever you may be and if not, may the colors of this collage warm your heart.

I created this vision board with the aid of Polyvore. Polyvore makes it easy and fun to make vision boards/collages. This one came about because it is cold outside and I choose orange, a color that oozes warmth. I added the number “7” because based on Doreen Virtue’s book “Angel Numbers” states that it means that “you’re on the right path. Keep up the good work.” At one time or another, this is an assurance what many of us need to hear. I hope that if it is cold wherever you are that it warms you a bit.
Blessings, Lydia
