Quote Tuesday

“Shared joy is a double joy; shared sorrow half a sorrow.”
~Swedish Proverb

“The thoughts that come to us are worth more
than the ones we seek.”
~Joseph Joubert

Refuse Permission

“Negative emotions need our permission before they enter into our hearts. Bar their entry. Why let trouble into your heart, given that all it can do is evict that more legitimate resident, joy? Similarly, no one can force you to be unhappy, you always have the right of refusal.”
~1001 Ways to Live in the Moment by Barbara Ann Kipfer

My Wish For You This Week

I first received this quote on Twitter from renowned author/speaker Marianne Williamson. The first time that I read it, I was touched by its beauty and thoughtfulness. Even though I am certain that she sent the sentiment to all of her tens of thousand followers, I remember feeling as though it were directed to me and me alone. With those warm feelings in mind, on December 6, 2010, I posted it on this blog for the very first time. For me, this is one that bears repeating, again and again.

Imagine a carpet sparkling with diamonds, stretched out before you and leading only to joy. That is the week God [Spirit/Your Source/the Universe] has planned for you.  ~Marianne Williamson

And thank you for a house full of people I love.  Amen.
 ~Terri Guillemets

Today, as I look into the faces of  the loved ones gathered at my home for Christmas dinner, I silently thank God for their presence.  As I do, it suddenly dawns on me that on this day of “extreme” gift giving, I have been blessed in abundance, but not in the conventional sense. No, these loved ones, by their presence, have given me the greatest gift–one beyond measure.

May your holidays be filled with the gift of the love of family and friends, peace, joy and abundant blessings, Lydia
