4/52: The 52 Project

This is week 4 of “The 52” project. I’ve blogged about it before, so to avoid rehashing the boring details, I’ll let you read all about it here.

With much gratitude to my beautiful daughter, I have a photograph of one of my favorite little people, my first g’son, B. Although he is almost 2 3/4  years old, I remember his début into the world like it was yesterday. His eyes were open, already curious about his new home and life. Today, he personifies the word “curiosity,” and loves to learn. He is a virtual sponge, learning everything from foreign languages, swimming and painting. He is a kind, loving and compassionate little guy, and I love him dearly. Even though he lives far away in L.A., frequent visits and the magic of  Face Time and Skype, keeps us close. This wee face makes my heart smile.

Blessings, Lydia

Week 3/52

This is week 3 of “The 52” project. I blogged about it last weekend and you can read all about it https://seekingquerencia.me/2014/01/06/just-me/. If you have little girls, chances are that they are now, or once were a Girl Scout member. Now D. is a Daisy Scout, but that doesn’t absolve her selling from her quota of Girl Scout cookies. Yesterday, was a clear blue, sunny day in Austin — perfect for selling cookies. Daisy set up her little booth, handmade sign, and stocked it with nothing but cookies of every variety, and opened for business. Who can resist buying cookies from this beautiful, curly-haired girl with the smile and sparkling eyes? I can’t. Currently, This household is in to her for a total of 7 boxes of cookies, and I have this unhealthy obsession with Thin Mints. If you find yourself in the Austin area and have a yearning for Girl Scout cookies, I have a girl that you need to meet.

Blessings, Lydia

Week 2/52

20140111-173131.jpg

This is week 2 of “The 52” project. I blogged about it last weekend and you can read all about it here. Fortunately, this week, I didn’t have to photograph myself (shivers) and I was able to take a photo of two of my babies — my daughter and granddaughter. Although I have 6 1/4 grandchildren, due to ease and proximity, I spend more time with D. than with my other loves. D. is a 7-year-old girl with a head full of beautiful curls, and a killer (albeit, snaggle-tooth) smile. She is one of the warmest spirits that I know. She lights up a room and spreads joy and laughter wherever she goes.

D. attends school and is in the 1st grade. I welcome any opportunity to spend quality time with her. Fortunately, her school welcomes parents, grandparents and other family members to have lunch with their children, when it is possible. On Friday, her Mom, B., and I went to have lunch with D. In between bites of a typical school lunch, I took this photo of the two. It is special to me because B., the youngest of my three children will always be my baby, and seeing her happy and smiling with her baby, warms my heart. I am blessed to serve as witness to this special moment between mother and child.
